well, to me it seems someone got a little power hungry, because it wasnt even a page of those 2 flaming. NOT necessary for it to be locked, especially since they stopped after I told them to.

so apparantly pinkbike has become so lame that they delete the best things they have going, so until bobw is brought back i will only use this site as a host for pictures, and to talk to my friends on their noteboards. Pinkbike=weakbike

Well you can thank cottonmouth and his butt buddy for screwing up B.O.B.W. thread...clowns were just flaming eachother last night, I told them to stop, and they did, but now guess what, SOMEONE locked it, even with the flaming stopped. WEAK.

nope, i havent used em. When i HAVE to use gloves, its because Im hitting something with TONS of heat, like 3/16 tungsten in the torch. So i use the really heavy ones, as theyre the only hope I have of not burning my fingers.

You're not preloading it at all. If you get to the point of actually preloading it you are adding too much drag. The play disappears before you add any preload. That's why setting up the spacers just right is especially important. The minute there's no space left in the system the play disappears. Tighten it any more and you are adding preload which will wear the bearing races out that much faster. I don't know how many X-type bottom bracket bearings you've worn out. I have been running external bearings since they first came out and I have yet to wear out a single bearing. There is a fine line there. That's why people constantly claim RF bearings are inferior. The problem is RF designed their system to be properly setup when they are bottomed on the splines without adding any preload. People space them wrong, add way too much preload bottoming it out, and demolish the bearings. It's not a headset. It's designed to be a floating bearing system.
